Does Your Business Need an Access Control Lock?

Are the different sections of your business premises adequately secured? This doesn't necessarily mean the lock and any security features you might have on your front door. It's more about enabling different levels of access for the different sections of your physical premises.

Would your operation benefit from an access control lock?

Granting Access

An access control lock is simply a lock where you're able to grant access to whoever you choose by giving them the combination code required to unlock the door in question. These types of locks have a numerical keypad and spare you from having to issue each staff member with their own key to access the parts of your premises that they need to visit on a frequent basis. It's not the same as a smart lock (which is accessed with a smartphone), and an access control lock doesn't need extensive wiring or a wi-fi connection.

Customer-Facing Businesses

This type of lock is most advantageous for customer-facing businesses. There's the portion of your premises where customers are served, and the rest of the premises (quite probably containing your stock) is restricted. While an access control lock can be fitted to a front door, they're more useful for internal doors, creating a barrier between these two sections. Such a lock can be quickly installed by any provider who offers commercial locksmith services

Flexible Security

An access control lock is not just about adding another level of security to your premises, it's also about adding a flexible level of security. This flexibility is demonstrated by your ability to reset the lock's access code as needed. A lost key, or one that wasn't returned by a staff member when they left, can create a security risk. Instead of calling a commercial locksmith repair provider to replace or rekey the lock, you can simply change the access code. Be sure to choose a non-sequential numerical code for safety. If your current code is 0000, your new code should not be 0001.

A Standalone Door

It's not particularly expensive to install an access control lock, especially if it's for a single, standalone door. Multiple doors utilizing the same control system require additional wiring, which can increase the complexity of the installation. The lock should have a manual option (using a key) so that the door can still be operated in the event of a power cut.

When you need to ensure that each section of your business premises has an appropriate level of security, it might be time to ditch the keys and go with an access code.

About Me

Using A Great Safe

About a year ago, I could tell that there were some serious problems with my home security. I had been robbed twice, and I knew that I needed to make some changes in order to protect my belongings and my family. I worked hard to figure out what I could do to improve my security, but ultimately I decided that I needed a strong safe. I started looking around for a safe that would work for what I needed, and I was able to find an excellent business that would work for my belongings. It was incredible to have everything locked up and protected. This blog is all about using great safes.
